Board Member & Merchandising
Kate Matthews is an autism specialist teacher working with children with social, emotional and mental health issues. She is passionate about supporting parents and families who are dealing with life changing diagnosis and cognitive difficulties. Kate started working in alternative educational provision after 8 years of mainstream teaching, when she decided to pursue her passion of supporting people with autism. She started by working with adults with autism supporting them with medical appointments, statements of need and DLA and PIP applications and subsequently worked in a range of SEND schools across the north east. This experience has been invaluable both personally and in supporting other parents whose children have additional needs through her blog, theanxiousparent and through the Myhre Syndrome group. Kate lives in Gateshead with her husband Scott and her children Oscar, Juliet and Rachel, who has Myhre Syndrome. She is relatively new to Myhre Syndrome but learning fast!
